What is Happening Inside Your Body?

The top of your uterus is now about 6 inches above your belly button. By this point in your pregnancy you have, on average, gained between 24 and 29 pounds.

You are really getting big now, and the size of your belly is probably making you quite uncomfortable. You are likely feeling very tired and sore at this point. Time starts to feel like its slowing down it gets closer to the end of your pregnancy.

As the time comes closer to your delivery, you may start to feel more anxious about the birth. You may be feeling moody, emotional or irritable. Feeling emotional is very normal.

To help ease your concerns, educate yourself. Read books about childbirth and talk with other women about their birth experiences. Research the different childbirth methods and pain relief options that are available. Keep an open mind. When the time comes you will be able to make all the right decisions for yourself.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 16-20 inches long and weighs about 5 ½ pounds.

What Does a Fetus Look Like at 35 Weeks? - Video

Video showing what a fetus (baby) at 35 weeks looks like.

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby is continuing to add on weight, putting on fat all over its body.

Your baby is pretty fully developed now. Your baby’s hair, toenails, and fingernails are fully formed. From this time on your baby will be able to survive outside of the womb without a lot of medical intervention, though staying in the womb longer will mean a healthier baby at birth.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Your doctor will probably want to start seeing you every week now until the end of your pregnancy.

Your baby’s birth is only a few weeks away now. Be sure that you have a car seat ready. It is a good idea to have it installed in the car so that you don’t have to figure out what to do at the moment you are getting ready to leave the hospital.

Make sure you have selected a pediatrician for your baby. Your baby will need a pediatrician immediately after it is born and making that decision now will make things much easier when the time comes.

By the end of your pregnancy you will have gained on average between 25 and 35 pounds.

You may be noticing the development of enlarged veins or varicose veins in your legs. Some women develop spider veins also. Varicose veins are caused by weaknesses in the valves in the veins that carry blood back to your heart.

If you are experiencing varicose veins or swelling in your legs, try to avoid standing for long periods of time. Make sure you are moving frequently. Walking will help improve circulation. Try wearing support panty hose. It can help compress the tissues and improve circulation.

It is also essential to drink plenty of fluids. Drinking a lot of water will help keep you hydrated and prevent your body from retaining so much water. This will help take pressure off of your circulatory system.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is about 14-17 inches long and weighs about 3 pounds.

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby is adding fat and putting on weight steadily. From now until the end of your pregnancy, your baby will put on about ½ pound every week.

Your baby has doubled in height in the last six weeks. From this point until delivery it will probably only grow a few inches taller, but will pack on significantly more weight.

Your baby’s brain is still rapidly developing.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Sciatica, pain in the side of the back that runs down the hip and leg, is common during this stage of pregnancy. It is caused by changes in posture as well as pressure from your baby on the sciatic nerve.

This condition can spontaneously disappear if your baby changes positions and alleviates the pressure.

If you are having difficulty with sciatic pain, pregnancy yoga can be helpful. Some women get relief from acupuncture, massage, chiropractic treatments and pregnancy pain relief techniques.

What is Happening Inside Your Body?

The top of your uterus is 6 ½ to 6 ¾ inches above your belly button. Your uterus may measure the same size as it did last week. You have on average gained 25 to 35 pounds.

You may be having frequent Braxton-Hicks contractions, as your body is preparing itself for labor. As long as your contractions remain irregular, it is not generally a sign of labor.

As your body prepares for the delivery of your baby, your cervix will begin to dilate (become larger) and efface (soften). You may pass the mucus plug that has been blocking the opening of your cervix. This has served to keep bacteria from getting into your uterus.

The loss of the mucus plug can happen up to two weeks before labor begins, or it can happen at the beginning of labor.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 17 to 21 inches long and weighs about 6 ½ pounds.

What Does a Fetus Looks Like at 37 Weeks? - Video

Here is a video of a baby in the womb at week 35 since conception. This would be your week 37.
Click to watch video

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby’s body fat has increased to about 8%. By birth it’s body fat will be about 15%.

By the end of this week your baby will be considered full-term. Your baby could be born at any time, but the longer it stays inside of you, the more time it will have to develop more neural connections in its brain.

Some of the antibodies in your blood are crossing into the placenta, which will help support your baby’s immune system. Once born, your breast milk will transmit your immunities.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Hormones are working aggressively to soften the ligaments in your pelvis. Your joints may be feeling loose and you may be feeling clumsy.

Try swimming. It will help your body feel supported and allow you to move freely and gently, helping your range of motion and flexibility without any impact.

Take extra good care of yourself now. Take it easy and get plenty of rest, fluids and nourishment. You will want to have plenty of energy when your baby arrives.

What is Happening Inside Your Body?

You are feeling huge and ready to get this baby on the outside! Most women do not deliver on their due date. If your due date has come and gone, don’t worry. About 10 percent of babies are born more than 2 weeks late.

Your pregnancy is not considered overdue (called post-term) until it is more than 2 weeks past the due date. Your due date is definitely not an exact science. As a matter of fact, only 5 percent of women actually deliver on their due dates.

Try to stay as relaxed as possible. Walking can help you to feel better and looser and may also encourage labor to come.

You may not feel like doing much at this point. Try to enjoy this time as much as possible. Relax, and know that your baby will come when the time is right.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 18 to 21 ½ inches long, and weighs 7 to 8 pound. Your baby may vary slightly from this weight. In general, boy babies are slightly larger, and girl babies are slightly smaller.

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby is continuing to grow new connections in its brain and is putting on more weight.

No one knows exactly what will initiate labor. The placenta is what will get the labor process started by producing a hormone called corticotrophoin (CRH). This creates a chain reaction of other hormones, which will lead to the birth of your baby.

The placenta begins producing CRH early in pregnancy. It continues to increase steadily until labor is triggered.

Soon you will come face to face with your new baby.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Continue to practice relaxation and breathing exercises to help you prepare for childbirth. The more easily and naturally you can do them, the easier it will be when the time comes for your new baby to be born.

Pregnancy has been a huge journey. Now that your child will be born, another new journey will begin.

Most likely, you have not experienced many changes in the last week or so. Though you are not having many changes you can see outwardly, most likely inside your cervix is beginning to prepare for the birth of your baby.

What is Happening Inside Your Body?

Most likely, you have not experienced many changes in the last week or so. Though you are not having many changes you can see outwardly, most likely inside your cervix is beginning to prepare for the birth of your baby.

As your labor gets closer, your cervix will soften and get thinner and dilate.

You are most likely feeling tired of being pregnant and increasingly ready for the birth of your baby to begin, especially as your friends and family bombard you with phone calls to find out if you have given birth to your baby yet.

Remember to try to enjoy this time. Take time for yourself and pamper yourself as much as possible. You probably won’t have this much time for yourself for a long time.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 18 to 21 ½ inches long and weighs about 7 to 7 ½ pounds.

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby has now lost most of the vernix and lanugo hair that used to cover its skin. You will likely still see remnants of both at birth.

Your baby has put on more fat tissue under its skin and will be more able to hold its body temperature once it is born.

Your placenta will continue to give your baby a wealth of antibodies to help protect it from infection and illnesses. This will be vital to your baby in the first 6 months of its life. You will continue to provide many of these antibodies to your baby through your breast milk if you choose to breast feed your baby.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

If you have the time and energy now, you may want to cook up some extra meals or stock up on some frozen foods and easy to prepare meals to help take the pressure off once your baby is born.

You will be very busy taking care of your new baby once it is born. Take the time now to make sure everything is organized and in order so you won’t be under any undo pressure once the baby comes.

What is Happening Inside Your Body?

The top of your uterus is about 6 ½ to 7 ½ inches above your belly button. Many women will not grow any larger during the last few weeks of pregnancy.

This last stretch of pregnancy can be the most difficult and trying. You are likely feeling tired, fatigued, having back and neck pain, and feeling anxious and emotional. You may be having trouble sleeping and finding a comfortable spot.

You are probably running to the bathroom often now, as the pressure on your bladder is increasing all the time.

You may not feel very hungry due to the pressure on your stomach, but keep eating frequent small meals. Also, be sure to keep well hydrated.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 17 ½ to 21 inches long and weighs about 6 ¾ pounds. Around this stage of pregnancy babies can vary a lot in height and weight. The average newborn is 21 ½ inches long and weighs 7 ½ pounds.

Here is the last video we have on the fetal development it explains how your baby decides when to be born…click to watch video

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby is still rapidly growing new connections in its brain. This will continue after birth.

Your baby’s organs are mature. Its movements are restricted due to the tight space.

If you have not done so please watch the videos on vaccinations entitled H1N1 Vaccine Your Worst Nightmare? . The information in these videos are from experts in the field who are trying to protect you and your baby.

Listening to these videos could save you a life time of extra challenges.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Make sure that you are packed and ready for the hospital.

This can be a challenging time emotionally. Waiting for your baby to be born and not knowing when the big moment will come can be stressful. Try to keep your mind occupied and keep yourself busy. Take time to meditate and clear your mind. Practice some relaxation techniques. This will also be a good preparation for your labor.

Your uterus may be up under your ribs now.

If you are feeling tired, get some extra rest, the next few weeks will be the last opportunities you will have to really rest once your baby is born.

If you are having pain, take extra time to take care of yourself. Get a pregnancy massage, try an acupuncture treatment, or have your partner help you with some pregnancy pain relief techniques. A warm (not hot) bath can help your body relax as can swimming or pregnancy yoga.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 16 ½ to 20 ½ inches long and weighs about 6 pounds.

What Does a Fetus Look Like at 36 Weeks? - Video

A short video of a baby in the womb at week 36 using 4D ultrasound. Please note in this video is based on the fetus at about 34 to 35 weeks from conception.

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby has a small but round face, from both fat depositing and from its powerful sucking muscles.

Your baby’s movements will generally be slowing because there is less room to move around.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

You will want to start packing for the hospital and making sure that everything is prepared for when your labor begins.

Make sure you have your health insurance card, breast pads, sanitary pads (the hospital will provide some, but you may be more comfortable with your own), and clothing for you and your baby to wear going home. After the birth of your baby, plan on fitting in the size of clothes that your wore when you were six months pregnant.

Your baby will need a car seat, clothes, and newborn diapers after it is born.

You have on average gained between 19 and 25 pounds.

Now that you are getting bigger and heavier, you are likely beginning to feel more tired again. Also, your body is beginning produce more of the hormone prolactin, which helps your body to produce milk for your baby. Prolactin has a sedating effect on the body.

Your uterus is placing increasing pressure on your bladder. This can make you feel more urgency to go to the bathroom and also can cause you to have leaking of urine when coughing, sneezing or laughing. If you experience burning on urination with fever, abdominal pain or backache you should contact your doctor as this could indicate a urinary tract infection.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 14-16 inches from head to toe and weighs about 2 ¾ pounds.

What Does a Fetus Look Like at 29 Weeks? - Video

The videos are of babies 27 weeks since conception.

Your babies pupils are beginning to respond to light. Watch a video click here.

What does a baby look like in the womb at 29 weeks. Here is another video you’ll enjoy.

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby is <a title="Video about: The fetus appears less wrinkled as additional fat deposits form beneath the skin. Its brain is developing rapidly now.

Your baby’s mouth and nose are filled with amniotic fluid. When you eat food, the flavors pass from the mother’s bloodstream through the placenta, into the baby’s bloodstream, and into the amniotic fluid. As your baby actively swallows amniotic fluid, it will give it its first tastes and smells of its mother’s food.

This can influence your baby’s tastes later in life, so if you want your baby to eat its vegetables, make sure you are eating yours now and while you are breastfeeding.

Also, experiencing the tastes of your food now helps your baby to adjust to your breast milk after it is born. Your breast milk will have a similar taste and smell as the amniotic fluid your baby has been swallowing. This can help encourage your baby to feed.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Do your research on an infant car seat now. There are a lot of choices available. It is important to have a car seat ready, because by law in most states you will not be allowed to take your baby home from the hospital without one.

Your uterus is now about 3 ¾ inches above your belly button. Your weight gain on average is between 17 and 24 pounds by this week of pregnancy.

You may be feeling increasingly uncomfortable in your body. Your ligaments and muscles are becoming more elastic. This can cause back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, pelvic pain, sciatica pain, and many other discomforts. Many women experience leg cramps as well.

Digestive upsets such as heartburn and constipation and hemorrhoids may also continue to be problematic.

You may be having difficulty sleeping, and your baby may be keeping you awake at night kicking.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is about 14-16 inches long from head to toe and weighs about 2 ½ pounds.

What Does a Fetus Look Like at 28 weeks? - Video

At 26 weeks form fertilization all components required for a sense of smell are fully operational. Click to watch video

View 4D ultrasound of a baby in the womb at 28 weeks (26 weeks since conception)……video of fetus in the womb

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby’s lungs are now able to breathe air. Your baby is continuing to swallow amniotic fluid and its swallowing skills are improving as are its sucking ability.

Your baby’s sleeping and waking schedule are becoming more regular, however your baby most likely only sleeps for 20 to 30 minutes at a stretch.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Swimming is also wonderful for the body and will help you feel more loose and flexible without any impact on your body. Taking a warm bath can also feel very soothing.

Meditation can also help you feel relaxed and refreshed. There are some wonderful CD’s that can help you enter a meditative state.

Some women find acupuncture, pregnancy massage, or chiropractic visits helpful in alleviating pain.

Check into some gentle pain relief techniques that your partner can assist you with in order to help you to feel better. You can find this type of information in the book Pregnancy Pain Relief.

You are now entering your third trimester!

Your uterus is about 2 ¾ inches above your belly button. Your belly is growing and stretching.

Your baby is probably increasingly active. For most babies, the most active period of the pregnancy is between 27 and 32 weeks. The volume of amniotic fluid has decreased by about half now, which will make it possible to see your baby’s elbows, knees and feet poking out of your abdomen when the baby kicks and turns.

You may also feel your baby having the hiccups. This feels like rhythmic movements in your uterus, and is a normal part of your baby’s lung development.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 13-15 inches long from head to toe and weighs a little over 2 pounds.

What Does a Fetus Look Like at 27 Weeks? - Video

Exposure to loud noise can damage the ears of a fetus at 27 weeks (25 weeks since conception).. Click here to watch.

4D ultrasound video of a baby in the womb…Watch video here.

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby is already starting to be able to taste and is acquiring a sense of smell. Click here to see video of this.

Your baby’s eyelids are no longer fused. Its brain and nervous system are growing quickly. Grooves are beginning to form on the outside surface of your baby’s brain, which was relatively unwrinkled before now.

Your baby’s heart is beating at roughly twice the rate of your own.

Your baby now has an excellent, about 85%, chance of survival if it were to be born now.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Have you picked out a name yet for your new little bundle? It is a good time to figure that out now.

It is also a good idea to start childbirth classes now, so that they can be completed before 37 weeks.

If you have not yet taken a tour of the hospital that your will be delivering at, it is a good idea to do so. This will make things easier when your labor begins. You will already know where to go, what to do, and what to expect when you arrive.
