What is Happening Inside Your Body?

The top of your uterus is about 5 inches above your belly button now. As your uterus creeps up higher, your stomach may be feeling the squeeze, causing you to have heartburn. Try eating smaller meals more often to keep your stomach from getting too full.

From this point in your pregnancy until delivery, you can expect to gain about a pound a week. Your baby will be putting on ½ a pound a week, so half of your weight gain will come from your baby. Much of the rest of the weight is caused by fluid retention.

You may be having swelling in your legs, feet and hands. Some degree of swelling is normal during your pregnancy. Some women actually develop carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy.

Carpal tunnel causes burning, numbness, tingling or pain in the hands and wrists. It is the result of pressure on the nerve from excess fluid in your body. Carpal tunnel symptoms can also be the result of increased breast size causing tension and poor posture in your shoulders and neck, resulting in impingement of arteries and nerve tissue.

How Big is Your Baby?

Your baby is 15-18 inches tall and weighs about 4 pounds.

What Does a Fetus Look at 32 Weeks? - Video

What does your baby look like in the womb at 32 weeks (30 Weeks since conception) (8 months).

How is Your Baby Developing?

Your baby’s skin is becoming less translucent and more pink as layers of fat pack on under its skin. Your baby’s bones are hardening more and more.

Lanugo hair is continuing to fall off. There may be some remnants of this hair on your baby’s body when it is born, generally on the back or shoulders.

Your baby’s movements are beginning to slow down because its space is becoming more crowded. You should still be noticing at least 10 movements in a 2 hour period.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

At this stage in your pregnancy, you will probably be seeing your doctor more frequently, every 2 weeks instead of once a month.

Are you having difficulty getting comfortable and sleeping at night? If heartburn is keeping you awake, be sure not to eat right before bed. Try putting some 4-5 inch blocks under the top of the foot of your bed. This slight incline can ease heartburn.

If you are having difficulty sleeping due to pain and discomfort, try a pregnancy pillow, body pillows, or just lots of regular pillows between your knees and propped around your body for support.
