<p>Your uterus is now about 3 ¾ inches above your belly button. Your weight gain on average is between 17 and 24 pounds by this week of pregnancy.</p>
<p>You may be feeling increasingly uncomfortable in your body. Your ligaments and muscles are becoming more elastic. This can cause <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/BackPain.html">back pain</a>, <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/NeckPain.html">neck pain</a>, <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/ShoulderPain.html">shoulder pain</a>, <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/PelvicPainCramps.html">pelvic pain</a>, <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/SciaticNervePain.html">sciatica pain</a>, and many other discomforts. Many women experience <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/LegPainLegCramps.html">leg cramps</a> as well.</p>
<p>Digestive upsets such as <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/Heartburn.html">heartburn</a> and <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/Constipation.html">constipation</a> and <a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/painanddiscomfort/Hemorrhoids.html">hemorrhoids</a> may also continue to be problematic.</p>
<p>You may be having difficulty sleeping, and your baby may be keeping you awake at night kicking.</p>
<h3>How Big is Your Baby?</h3>
<p>Your baby is about 14-16 inches long from head to toe and weighs about 2 ½ pounds.</p>

<p><a href="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/fetus28WeeksWeb200.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-436" title="fetus28WeeksWeb200" src="http://pregnancymomandbaby.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/fetus28WeeksWeb200.jpg" alt="fetus28WeeksWeb200" width="200" height="235" /></a>At 26 weeks form fertilization all components required for a sense of smell are fully operational. <a title="All components required for a functioning sense of smell are operational. Studies of premature babies reveal the ability to detect odors as early as 26 weeks after fertilization. Placing a sweet substance in the amniotic fluid increases the rate of fetal swallowing. In contrast, decreased fetal swallowing follows the introduction of a bitter substance. Altered facial expressions often follow." rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ehd.org/movies.php?mov_id=241&amp;cell=4" target="_blank">Click to watch video</a></p>
<p>View 4D ultrasound of a baby in the womb at 28 weeks (26 weeks since conception)……<a title="During the third trimester of pregnancy, rapid brain growth consumes more than 50% of the energy used by the fetus. Brain weight increases between 400 and 500%." rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ehd.org/movies.php?mov_id=239&amp;cell=4" target="_blank">video of fetus in the womb</a></p>
<h3>How is Your Baby Developing?</h3>
<p>Your baby’s lungs are now able to breathe air. Your baby is continuing to swallow amniotic fluid and its swallowing skills are improving as are its sucking ability.</p>
<p>Your baby’s sleeping and waking schedule are becoming more regular, however your baby most likely only sleeps for 20 to 30 minutes at a stretch.</p>

<p>Meditation can also help you feel relaxed and refreshed. There are some wonderful CD’s that can help you enter a meditative state.</p>
<p>Some women find acupuncture, pregnancy massage, or chiropractic visits helpful in alleviating pain.</p>
<p>Check into some gentle pain relief techniques that your partner can assist you with in order to help you to feel better. You can find this type of information in the book <a href="http://www.PregnancyPainRelief.com">Pregnancy Pain Relief</a>.</p>
